Re: Call for Nominations: 2022 Cloud Foundry TOC Election
Chris Clark
Hi all,
Just a reminder to get in any nominations for TOC candidates before next Thursday, June 2. And, one procedural update: we'll be using Elekto to handle the voting process this year, in place of the methods we used last year. This should yield a cleaner, simpler process, and voters will be able to authenticate using their GitHub ID. We'll have more detailed instructions on this once voting begins next Thursday. |

Call for Nominations: 2022 Cloud Foundry TOC Election
Chris Clark <cclark@...>
Call for Nominations: Cloud Foundry Technical Oversight Committee. Last June, the inaugural Cloud Foundry TOC was elected. We’re now ready to elect three new members to this committee. To recap, last year, two TOC members were elected to two-year terms, and three were elected to one-year terms, with the understanding that moving forward, all TOC terms will be for two years. Of the initial five TOC members, Eric Malm (VMware), and Stephan Merker (SAP), will now continue on for a second year, and the remaining three seats will be determined by this election. Special thanks to our inaugural TOC! That would be Stephan, Eric, David Stevenson (VMware), Jan von Löwenstein (SAP), and TOC lead Lee Porte (Cloud.UK). Adopting a new system of government rarely goes as smoothly as this went, and a lot has been accomplished in the last year. Huzzah. Please note: only two representatives from a given company are eligible to serve on the TOC at one time. So, no more than one candidate each from SAP and VMware are eligible to win a seat during this election, and no entity can elect more than two representatives. Instructions for Nominating: Nominate someone for the TOC by submitting a GitHub Issue using this template. Nominations must be submitted by June 2nd. Feel free to nominate a colleague (asking them first is recommended), or yourself. Election Timeline:
Eligible Voters: Any individual who has contributed to CFF projects or technical working groups in the 12 months prior to the election is eligible to vote in the TOC election. Next week, a list of eligible voters will be published. If anyone feels like they have not been included in that list, but should have been, please submit an issue using this template. On June 2, email ballots will be sent to all voters on the list. Likewise, if you do not receive an email, but are on the list, please submit an issue using the above template. For any additional questions, please see the 2022 Voting Guide or reach out directly. Chris Clark Program Manager Cloud Foundry Foundation |

CAB Call
Ram Iyengar
Hey CF community! The CAB call scheduled for today has been moved to May 25th 2022 (at the same time). Announcing dynamic ASGs!
Amelia Downs
Hello everyone,
🎉 In cf
deployment 20.0.0 dynamic ASGs are now available and enabled by default.
🌧 Before dynamic ASGs, users had to restart their apps for ASG changes to take effect.
☀️ Now with dynamic ASGs, users no longer have to restart their apps for ASG changes to take effect. Now these changes happen
dynamically!
🙌 A HUGE shout out to Geoff Franks, Maria Shaldibina, and the whole networking team for making this happen.
🙋♀️ If you have any questions or comments, feel free to respond to this email or find us in the Cloud Foundry slack
#cf-for-vms-networking channel.

Announcing encrypted container-to-container networking
Amelia Downs
Hello everyone,
🎉 This is a (slightly belated) announcement about a platform enabled way to do encrypted container-to-container (c2c) networking.
🔐 As of diego release 2.59.0 and cf-deployment 18.0.0, there is now a new container port exposed to allow encrypted container-to-container networking. To take advantage of this feature you will need to connect to port 61443 when doing c2c.
📎 See more in the docs
here.
🙋♀️. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to respond to this email or find us in the Cloud Foundry Slack
#diego channel.
Thanks,
The App Platform Runtime Working Group

CAB call, March 16 2022
Ram Iyengar
Hello! Update about the Cloud Foundry CAB call to be held on Wednesday, March 16th – We will be hosting Onno Brouwer and the conversation will be centered around Open Service Broker API. What is the discussion scheduled to be? Onno and their team are using Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes along with OSBAPI. The Service Brokers allow their developers make use of services outside these platforms. Their (impressive) lineup of brokers include Concourse provisioning, Sharepoint connectors, PostgreSQL integrations, etc. They have a lot of success and the project itself is a wonderful technical accomplishment. Onno also has some questions that he would like to air freely. These include – activity around OSBAPI, alternatives, and others. Who is Onno? Onno is a senior advisor at Rijkswaterstaat in The Netherlands, where he operates their cloud native platforms since December 2015. Onno has over 25 years of software engineering experience, designing and building software in various languages and environments. His current interest cloud native applications architecture and design. Onno is an experienced speaker, and has presented internal workshops and trainings for topics such as Cloud Foundry, networking, traffic analysis, and security. Onno also held talks at past Cloud Foundry summits in Basel and The Hague, KubeCon, etc. The community calls are a great way to keep up with what's happening in the Cloud Foundry community. The success of the call is tied closely to the support we get in the form of participation. It would help greatly if you can take part in the discussions that happen. Also note - due to Daylight savings, clocks have moved back by an hour for some. Please consult the Community Calendar for the accurate slot. Cheers, Ram Iyengar Developer Advocate, CFF |

Call for maintainers of the Stratos project
Dear CF community,
We are putting out a final call for maintainers of the Stratos project, https://github.com/cloudfoundry/stratos, the web-based management GUI for Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes. The
TOC has had this project tentatively targeted for inclusion in the App Runtime Interfaces working group, alongside other distinguished CF clients such as the CF CLI and the CF Java client library. Since early 2021, though, it has been inactive, with the latest
official release in January 2021 and the latest commits in April.
If you have an interest in maintaining Stratos, please make the TOC aware by commenting on
community issue #226, replying to this thread on the cf-dev mailing list, discussing it with us in the
weekly TOC meetings (Tuesdays at 7:30 am PT / 10:30 am ET), or communicating with us in the
#toc channel on the Cloud Foundry Slack. If we do not hear of any potential maintainers by April 5th, we will propose archiving the Stratos repository and related repositories at the TOC meeting on that date.
Thanks,
Eric, on behalf of the TOC |

Node Buildpack Version
Gao, Jane <jane.gao@...>
Hi there,
I just had a question on how buildpack picks which minor node version to use when I have something like this set in package.json:
“engines”: { “node”: “^14.0.0” }
We noticed that when we do a cf push, it picks 14.18.2, but in that buildpack version (1.7.65), there is also a node version of 14.18.1. So how does the buildpack choose which version to use?
Thanks, Jane |

Membership Github cloudfoundry-community
Andy Lo A Foe
Hi all, I'm a co-maintainer of the cloudfoundry-community/terraform-provider-cloudfoundry project located here: A new release was created a few weeks ago but this requires some manual action on the https://registry.terraform.io website. AFAIK one needs to be a member of the cloudfoundry-community to perform this. Hereby requesting membership for the cloudfoundry-community. My Github handle is 'loafoe'. Can anyone help with this? Thanks, Andy |

Maintainers sought for KubeCF and Project Quarks
Chris Clark
Hi all, We've got two projects that no longer have active maintainers. Are there any companies or individuals out there that would like to pick up maintenance of the KubCF project and/or Project Quarks? The primary repositories are: https://github.com/cloudfoundry-incubator/kubecf If we don't find maintainers for these, we'll want to archive these repositories soon, as we don't want folks putting in Issues and Pull Requests that won't be responded to.
