Re: cf marketplace: no services available

sridhar vennela

Hi,

The PostgreSQL job is used by other jobs like CloudController, UAA, and other jobs. If you want to use services in the marketplace, You need to do bosh deploy for that particular service. Please follow below links to deploy MySQL services to the marketplace.

https://blog.starkandwayne.com/2014/07/02/adding-mysql-service-to-your-trycf-cloud-foundry/
https://github.com/cloudfoundry/cf-mysql-release

Hope that helps.

Database implementation as a cloud foundry app

Sundarajan Srinivasan

Dear People,

We have plans to host our application layer (node js) in the cloud foundry as an app. I have a great doubt on the database implementation part in cloud foundry.

It looks like the database are usually kept outside of Cloud foundry and consumed via the service broker. If this is the case they how come the scale in and scale out happens to database.

Is there a way to push a database as an app into CF ?

And I saw that each app has been restricted to a size of 2GB max and local storage of an app is not persistent. Having said I am confused that implementing a database as an app is not a correct architecture.

I came to know that the memory (RAM) can be increase to an organization using the quota space. How to increase the storage size of an app ?
Could you please clarify the queries?

Thanks
Sundar

Re: How to minimize VMs used in cf/diego

Benjamin Gandon

When I read "decrease the VM size" I guess you might be using BOSH-lite.
Then you could be interested in switching to microPCF which has a smaller memory footprint.

Hello, all

By default, there are about 20 VMs will be used in cf/diego installation.
I am trying to minimize the VM size.

I tried to follow https://github.com/cloudfoundry-community/cf-boshworkspace but got some problem.
I create an issue for it but got no response, is this still maintained?

If there are any other documentation about it, or any experience on it?

cf marketplace: no services available

Giovanni Napoli

Hi all, i've deployed Cloud Foundry v232 using BOSH-Lite on a local machine, but when i type:

cf marketplace

there are no services available. But in the VMs, for istance, ther's the "postgresql" job with its ip.
How can be possible? Thank you.

Wayne Ha <wayne.h.ha@...>

Amit,

You are right, if I use the default bosh-lite-v231.yml which uses api.bosh-lite.com then the cf domains command works.

But now I am adding the changes for v231 into boshlite-devbox.yml based on v226 which uses api.10.244.0.22.xip.io then the cf domains command fails.

Can I continue using api.10.244.0.22.xip.io?

Thanks,

Any reason you're targetting api.10.244.0.22.xip.io and not

I'm not sure why it's taking >40 mins to compile some simple go
binaries. You may have network issues (compilation jobs taking a long time
to download dependencies from BOSH director blobstore, or upload compiled
resulting artifacts) or you may need more CPU on your compilation
machines. You can try to SSH into the compilation VMs while they're
running to see what they're doing over those 40 minutes.

Re: Failed to login to Cloud Foundry after upgrading from cfv212 to cfv218

It depends on which features you want to leverage. For simplicity, I
recommend either deploying all the jobs in the standard way, or trying
non-standard things like not deploying Consul if you wish, and then
checking whether the resulting installation meets your needs.

The routing API and gorouter expect to be able to discover UAA via Consul,
but if you're not using routing API features, you may not need to have
consul colocated with UAA.

Did you also configure route_registrar correctly? You need to tell it
which routes to register on behalf of the UAA. That information was also
in the release notes. You should not add the --register-with-router flag,
in general you should not need to hack any source code in a running
installation.

and found that " --register-with-router \" was missed. After added
this line back to uaa_cf-registrar_ctl and restarted uaa using
monit, I am able to login to cf.

Not sure why "--register-with-router " was removed after cf 218 was
deployed using bosh. Any hints?

The UAA component should serve the login.example.com route. Did you
check out the release notes for 218? The first bullet in the important

UAA so that it gets the login route.

I'm not sure why it's taking >40 mins to compile some simple go binaries.
You may have network issues (compilation jobs taking a long time to
download dependencies from BOSH director blobstore, or upload compiled
resulting artifacts) or you may need more CPU on your compilation
machines. You can try to SSH into the compilation VMs while they're
running to see what they're doing over those 40 minutes.

This work has been completed and can be found in this commit [1] as part of

Hi There,

We’ve received feedback from the community that applications being
deployed on Cloud Foundry may be linking to libmysqlclient, which is
distributed under a GPL license. As this was expressed as a potential legal
concern we’ve experimented with replacing the mysql client library with
mariadb.

We’re happy to conclude that our experiments with Java, Ruby, PHP, Go,
Python and Nodejs proved a desired level of backwards compatibility and
would like to move forward with shipping the change.

Before we make the change we’d like to request feedback from the community
concerning backwards compatibility. If you have concerns and would like to
go through validation, we’ve created a docker image [1] for testing.

Our preference is to move forward with a change to the cflinuxfs2 by
3/16/2015. If you have any concerns or feedback please comment on this
issue [2].

If you're running on DEA's, check (or maybe restart) your health manager.
It's usually the culprit for question marks in the instance count.
