We are using it. Though we plan to fix this. If we could get a general
timeline for what release you plan to remove it in then we can plan to
remove it from our code by then.

We are considering turning the old endpoint into an injector[2] to help
shrink the footprint and overhead of core metron, but only if the old
endpoint is still in active usage - so please let us know.
