Hi Guys,
Are there any plans to improve Snapshot functionality in BOSH to include some sort of retention policy? The reason I’m asking this, is because if snapshots are meant to be used as a backup, surely the only way a snapshot should be deleted is if it ‘expires’? I’ve just experienced an accidental VM deletion only to find that the accidental deletion also deleted the snapshots associated with such VM. Should deleted instances really cleanup their associated snapshots? Regards, Neto |

I think what you are proposing makes sense in terms of expiring snapshots in the background though I can see some interesting IaaS specifics about keeping around snapshots of disks even after deleting a disk.
