Re: BOSH CPI for Huawei

Hi all

Thanks Chip for mention that.

The HuaweiCloud Bosh CPI [1] and configuration items for bosh [5] and cf [6] is ready now,
please take a look at it when you have free time. Thanks!

We also add CI testing [2][3][4] to check if Huaweicloud CPI is ready to run BOSH and install
Cloud Foundry. The CI result will be displayed in each Huaweicloud CPI PR [5].

Thanks
JUN

Follow up here for everyone on list... I spoke with Huawei team in person last week in Beijing, and they are working on creating the CPI now. It's not "pure OpenStack" so it will need to be it's own CPI. They are quite interested in getting it published so that we can evaluate it for potential incubation in the BOSH PMC.

Hi

Thanks Chip and Marco for replying to my question.

Chip is right, the OpenStack one does not already do what is needed.
The OpenStack is just a part of us. We have a lot of enhancements
in Huawei cloud. There are also have different APIs. So, we have
to propose a new Huawei CPI to support Huawei Cloud well.

Thanks

In addition to Marco's comments, I'll add a few more:

Before we consider a proposal to bring in the Huawei CPI (assuming that the OpenStack one does not already do what is needed), CPI authors typically have a working CPI ready to be reviewed for acceptance.

Since there aren't that many CPI authors, the documentation isn't that great. That said, here's the doc: https://bosh.io/docs/build-cpi/ And If a stemcell is needed: https://bosh.io/docs/build-stemcell/ Using the example CPIs is the right way to see what has to be done.

Dear Jun,

My previous understanding was that Huawei Cloud was based on OpenStack – is that no longer the case?

If this is true, my assumption would be that the openstack CPI  for BOSH should work just fine. Feel free to raise any issues on that CPI directly if there is anything preventing you from running it against Huawei Cloud.

Apologies if my impression from Huawei Cloud is not correct, I have not used it first hand.

Warm regards
Marco

Hello cf-bosh community,

I am a developer work for Huawei Corporation.

We are trying to propose the Huawei cloud CPI in Cloudfoundry [1]

Can somebody tell me how to start this work? Thanks!

Is there a guiding doc about the process of create the

sub-project under the BOSH community, how to merge

it BOSH release, and what are the necessary

conditions (such as: CI, unit tests, package) for

CPI code?
